Joshua Tulberg, owner of Gnarboards LLC, is an industrial designer with an affinity for electric vehicles. Building his first electric skateboard in 2004, he has been messing around with the concept now for nearly a decade in his warehouse based in Northern California with his girlfriend who happens to be a graphic designer.
The result of all these man-hours is an electric skateboard that can compete with a C5 Chevrolet Corvette in 75-foot drag races (check the video below). Sure not too long of a distance, but it’s pretty awesome that the board can accelerate so quickly. Claiming a 0-28mph acceleration of 1.9 seconds, the four 850watt electric motors strapped on to the board give it a range of 13-15 miles with a two-hour charge.
If you’re interested in trying out one of these sweet rides, it won’t come cheap. Gnarboard’s Kickstarter page is taking preorders at $2900 for the base model, with prices ranging up to $4000 if you want it fully loaded and ready to take on sports cars.
